The Biggest Fall Trends of 2017

Fall took it’s time, but once it arrived, it arrived swiftly here in Northern VA. The trees turned from green to burnt orange, deep red, and light yellow. It’s one of the most beautiful times of the year here! The change in season meant reassessing my fall wardrobe to see what was missing, and filling that gap with sustainable and ethical pieces. My favorite fall picks, shown below, come from ABLE and Amour Vert.

Amour Vert lives and breathes environmental-chic. Who new eco-friendly could be so chic and fashion forward? Amour Vert did. This company is easily one of my favorite sustainable brands due to their prints, materials, quality & designs.

ABLE (formerly, FashionABLE) is a company founded on the principle of empowering women all around the globe, enabling them to work and provide for themselves regardless of their past. The ABLE women produce jewelry, clothing, shoes, and handbags in a safe and healthy work environment. Empowered women empower women. Learn more about ABLE’s mission and impact here!

Diana Chelsea Boot by ABLE

This. {Ehical}. Neutral. Bootie. All the handclap emojis. I can’t say enough about it. First, you can comfortably walk around in it all day without issue. I can personally attest to this – I recently visited Chicago and wore these booties around all day while I played tourist there! Second, they will go with just about everything in your wardrobe. I love how they have a slightly pointed toe and a chunky block heel. Most importantly, this boot is handmade by women in Peru. I love knowing that the women who crafted this boot in Peru did so in a safe, healthy work environment, while earning a fair and living wage. A guilt-free shoe purchase! (And how often can you say that?!) So go ahead, get the shoes – you deserve it 🙂

The color in the images above is “Ash”, which is a kind of greige (a color that’s a cross between a beige and a gray). You can shop the Diana Chelsea bootie here, and they also come in almond and black. It’s available for $168.

X Ring by ABLE

I’ve had an X ring by Baublebar that I wear daily for a few years now, and I always get comments on it. So, I wanted to find an ethical alternative to it! Luckily, ABLE has a gorgeous X ring that fit the bill. Made of either sterling silver, 14k rose gold, or 14k gold wire, the ring in handcrafted in the USA (Nashville, TN) by women who have overcome hardships in their past. These hardships and challenges that they’ve overcome can range from drug addiction to prostitution.

My gold ring was handcrafted in Nashville by Mary, so thank you Mary for creating such a beautiful piece of jewelry! I love that ABLE does the little things, like a enclosing a note about who made the piece. You can shop the ring here and it comes in three different finishes: gold, rose gold, and silver. It’s available for $34. It’s definitely been added to my daily ring rotation!

Amour Vert Morgan Top

Bell sleeves? The “it” color of the season {red}? Made from sustainable materials? Seriously, this top checks ALLL the boxes. Made of modal, which is sourced by sustainably harvested eucalyptus or beech trees, you can rest assured that this top has a low environmental impact. The top features a ribbed style (so size up if you like a looser fit), bell sleeves (so on trend), and a scoop neck.

The plum color, which is a cross between plum and dark red, is perfect for the fall and holiday season. I also like how the bell sleeve is subtle. Some of the very trendy tops I’ve seen lately have massive bell sleeves which (in my opinion) is very hard to wear. Plus, it will make it harder to wear in future seasons as the bell sleeve trend wears out. The subtle bell sleeves on the Amour Vert Morgan top strike the perfect balance between trendy and practicality. You can snag the top here for $68. Dark, fall florals are all the rage right now, and this top happens to match with an older skirt I have in my wardrobe.

Last, but certainly not least, my nail polish color is Laurel Canyon Lover by Lauren B Beauty – my favorite nontoxic nail polish brand. More on Lauren B Beauty here.
